OSHA Posts New COVID Guidance
As expected, President Biden confirmed workplace safety and health will receive substantial attention and support from his administration. OSHA, in compliance with the Executive Order issued on his second day in office, swiftly issued revised COVID-19 guidance. A COVID-19 temporary emergency standard is almost certain to follow and the newly issued guidance will most likely signal the content and tone of the standard. The guidance issued goes beyond social distancing and wearing a face covering.
A temporary standard will likely face legal challenges and is only in effect for 6 months.
Employers should already be taking steps to minimize the impact of COVID-19 on their workforce and business. Review the guidance to see if additional steps should be taken to improve your company’s response to the pandemic and help prepare for compliance with the emergency temporary standard when issued.
